STUDENT DISCIPLINE

The Principal may expel a student from the school, should the student’s conduct, behaviour, or influence on others be detrimental to the general discipline/interest of the school.

Conditions for expulsion:
(a) A student caught indulging in some highly undesirable activity will be expelled immediately from the school.
(b) A student who fails in a class for two successive years or fails twice in three years will be withdrawn by the parents at the end of the session.

It is expected that a student must:

Respect his/her teachers and elders and wish them.
Speak in English once he/she is inside the school campus.
Avoid vulgarity in talk and behavior.
Respect school property.
Should be dressed up in proper uniform with Identity card.
Take care of his/her belongings.
Not misbehave while commuting by bus.
Reach the school 5 minutes before the school is reporting time.
Not indulge in rowdyism, cheating, rude behavior, and insubordination as it could lead to immediate suspension or expulsion from school.

(c) Any student caught cheating or using unfair means during the examination/test may not only be given a zero in the subject concerned, but an incident of this nature may lead to his/her expulsion from the School.
(d) In case a student stops attending school without any information to the school authorities, his/her name will be struck off the rolls, 15 days after he/she stops attending the school.

Parent’s Responsibility: Parents are required to cooperate with the School in developing their children into balanced, progressive, morally strong, and disciplined youth, by helping their children observe the general code of conduct in and outside the school. Misbehaviour in the school is dealt with by the Discipline Committee of the School. The recurrence of such acts may lead to the expulsion of the defaulter from the school. However, punishment is administered only with a view to correcting the defiant behaviour of the child . The Principal has the right to refuse the continuation of studies to any pupil whose conduct is unsatisfactory.

(a) Girls’ hair must be either cut short or tied back neatly.
(b) Students are not allowed to wear any jewellery in school.
(c) Check your ward’s almanac daily. Do sign the remarks, if any, and take necessary action.
(d) Ensure that your ward carries books according to the time table to avoid any extra load of books.
(e) Carrying cell phones or electronic devices is strictly prohibited. The school will not be responsible for goods, articles, money or books lost by the children. Parents should not send expensive items with their children to school.

Students who habitually indulge in misbehaviour despite repeated warnings and continuous efforts by the school teachers to improve their behaviour will not be enrolled/admitted in the School during the following academic session. A warning in this regard will be given to the parents well in advance to seek admission to some other school.

Disciplinary action may be taken against a student on the following grounds.
(a) Absence from the Assembly (while present in the School).
(b) Absence from the ‘Class’ and unexplained loitering.
(c) Scribbling graffiti.
(d) Unruly movement or making unwanted noise in the corridors or inside the building.
(e) Insubordination.
(f) Use of foul language
(g) Vandalization of the Notice Boards or any other form of vandalism.
(h) Wearing an improper, incorrect, or incomplete uniform.
(i) Creating undesirable chaos during dispersal after the Assembly.
(j) Staying outside the Class room or building even after the break is over.
(k) Stealing
( l) Bunking Classes/School
(m) Possessing books that may be classified as obscene.
(n) Misconduct while travelling in the School van.
(o) Misuse of the internet in the Computer Lab.

Prefects may check students any time during the day for improper uniforms and may also confiscate items that they feel are not the part of the uniform.

Serious Offences Cheating in examinations, stealing, physical violence, damaging school property etc, would be dealt severely. Such activities could mean immediate suspension/expulsion.

Striking off the name from the rolls The name of a student may be struck off the rolls on account of continuous absence / nonpayment of fees and other dues for20 days after the last day for payment.

The school gate closes at 8:30 am and late comers are not allowed to join the school on that day.

Students will be liable for punishment and award of Yellow cards.

Yellow cards will be issued on the first occasion of flouting discipline.

The following procedure will be followed for the award of a Yellow Card:

(a) The Yellow Card could be given confidentially, or awarded during assembly, in front of the entire school at the Principal’s discretion;
(b) A record will be maintained by the Teacher in charge of discipline.
(c) The second Yellow Card will be the last warning. On committing the third offense, parents will be called by the Principal. On committing the next offense, appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, which may amount to suspension or expulsion from the school.

Note: Notwithstanding the rule in para 7 above, the student’s name shall be struck off the rolls except, after giving, the parent or guardian of such a student a reasonable opportunity of showing cause against the proposed action.
